Sarthak Gupta won Florida’s Fifteenth District’s annual Congressional App Challenge. More than 600 people watched models strut down the runway, with more than one strawberry-themed outfit, at the Florida Strawberry Festival’s 46th Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon. Strawberry Crest senior and standout swimmer Saige Starford was presented with the Henry Hicks Memorial Award for Outstanding Swimmer-Girls. Boy Scout Troop 734 performed the flag ceremony at ChiliFest/Railfest. Two Plant City veterans who live at Grace Manor were honored for their service during a Quilts of Valor ceremony last week. The recipients, Sergeant Joseph DeMello, Jr. and Staff Sergeant Gregory Irizarry, served their country with distinction, and their sacrifices were acknowledged with beautifully crafted quilts. The 21st Annual Black Heritage Gala illuminated the rich tapestry of African American culture, showcasing the contributions of individuals in the arts and honoring community leaders who have made a lasting impact. State Farm agent Courtney Paat was named the 2024 Outstanding Citizen of the Year. Thousands attended Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, which featured displays and interactive exhibits of the wonders of the aviation, automobile, and train industries. Strawberry Crest High School’s competitive cheerleading team flipped, twirled, and spun their way to a national championship.
