January 2024 kicked off the year with a month full of glitz and sparkle. Lincoln Elementary’s Girls on the Run team sprinted into the hearts of local pediatric rehabilitation patients at South Florida Baptist Hospital when they delivered 75 individual sensory care packages to assist with their therapies. The Plant City Chamber announced its 2024 Board of Directors. Jeremy Sidlauskas took over as the new Chief of the Plant City Fire Rescue Department. The Plant City Elks Lodge held their district Hoop Shoot and swept first place in all five divisions. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration capped off a weekend-long celebration that included an opening ceremony, a parade, and a drumline competition. The 2024 Junior Royalty pageant saw 121 contestants vie for a title with winners: Baroness Regean Causey (6) and First Maid Camdyn Rae Waters, Duchess Kezley Salinas (8) and First Maid Charleigh Rae Harris, Princess Ava Bikowski (11) and First Maid Khloe Kay Carter and Queen Brooke Sidnei Browning (15) and First Maid Micah Joylynn Duncan. The Florida Strawberry Festival Queen’s Pageant saw Annistyn Faith Griffin a junior at Durant High School, dual-enrolled at Hillsborough Community College, crowned the 2024 Florida Strawberry Festival Queen.
