With the 2016 Florida Strawberry Festival theme being “Royal Fun for Everyone,” the Plant City Times & Observer decided there would be no better art for the guide cover than Strawberry Queen Haley Riley — and there would be no other artist better at drawing her than Plant City native Jesse Starr.
Starr has a background drawing caricatures at Busch Gardens, in addition to building monster trucks, designing a boat wrap for
Shaquille O’Neal and creating ultra-realistic portraits with ballpoint pens. In addition to our cover, he most recently did two international covers for BIC Graphic.
Starr used photographs from the 2016 Florida Strawberry Queen Pageant to create Riley’s likeness and topped her with a sparkling crown as brilliant as her beautiful smile.
