Commissioner Al Higginbotham invited his Plant City constituents to a complimentary breakfast at Johnson Barbeque Oct. 29. Higginbotham is running against democrat Mark Nash and independent Joy Green for Hillsborough County Commission District 4.
Higginbotham held the breakfast at Johnson’s because of his history with the restaurant. It was there that he held his first kickoff party six years ago when he entered the political arena.
“I am 100% behind Al,” restaurant owner Fred Johnson said.
Higginbotham has been putting in 16 hour days on the campaign trail.
“I’m more tired than excited,” Higginbotham said. “I think any candidate would be lying if they didn’t say they were tired at the end of a race. But we’re right on target.”
Among those at the breakfast was city commissioner Dan Raulerson and Rich Glorioso who served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives.
