Brisen Tweedy
Brisen is a starting pitcher for Strawberry Crest High School.
How did it feel to get the big win against the city rival in Plant City Friday?
It felt amazing, that game was a must-win for our team. We needed that win. Adrenaline was definitely pumping, that’s for sure.
How important was it that the game was played on your home field?
Having home field advantage means so much. Just going out there and knowing that the vast majority of the fans are there to support you means a lot to me and my team
Would you consider that your best game in high school? You were absolutely dialed in.
That’s a tough one. It’s definitely up there in the top 3. It’s hard to choose between Bloomingdale last year and the opening day game against Sumner this year.
The win against Plant City is a step in the right direction. How do you guys use this win moving forward with the season?
We just need to lock in for one game at a time. Don’t worry what’s two weeks from now or a few days from now. We need to win the next game and take it from there. We have a good momentum boost right now with a lot of positive energy that will translate to better performance on the field.
Do you have a favorite MLB or college player? If so, who?
My favorite MLB player would have to be Jaren Duran or Marcus Stroman. I love their confidence and passion for the game. They make the game fun to watch.
Looking ahead at the rest of the schedule, is there a game circled that you’re looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to every game. Not any specific ones but just playing the game for the last time with my amazing teammates is what I’m looking forward to. Baseball is fun, I love to have fun.
What’s an area in your game that you want to improve in?
Commanding the offspeed pitches a little bit better. When I get deep in a count, I can’t waste pitches trying to make my curveball nastier or anything like that. It does no good for me or for my team.
When you’re not playing baseball, what are you doing in your free time?
In my free time I am supporting my brother in his baseball games and helping coach his team. I also go to youth group every Sunday night with some friends, which is always fun.
Do you have any game day rituals by yourself or with the team?
You have to sleep with the ball you are going to pitch with. It’s going to be good luck. If I’m hitting, I have to sleep with the bat.
What’s your favorite songs to get you hyped before a game?
My favorite artist is Baby Keem, but my favorite pre-game song would have to be Vent.
