Zion Weems is a freshman who attends Strawberry Crest High School and is on the varsity football team. Weems is coming off a terrific game against the Bloomingdale Bulls, where he ran for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns.

How long have you been playing football?

I’ve been playing football for nine years.

How does it feel to be on the varsity team as a freshman?

It feels amazing. I went into high school knowing God had a plan for me.

Would you consider last Friday’s game against Bloomingdale your best career game?

Yes, I’d consider it as my best career game. There was a big momentum change toward the end of the game.

How huge was it for your team to snap that losing streak and get back in the winning column?

I would say pretty huge. I feel like we, as a team, needed to feel what a win feels like again.

What’s your favorite career play?

My longest touchdown against Robinson, which was 44 yards.

If you weren’t playing running back, what’s another position you would want to play and why?

If I wasn’t playing RB, I’d pick to be a slot WR.

If you could give advice to a kid

wanting to play football and become a running back, what advice would you give them?

I would say that ball protection is key.

Do you have any pregame rituals? If so, what is it?

Before the game, I’m listening to music and praying.

If you’re not playing football, what are you doing in your free time?

I’m normally working out and working on my craft.

What’s your favorite song to get you hyped for game day?
