This week’s athlete of the week is Harper Farley. She is 11 years old and will be in 6th grade at Tomlin Middle School. She was on the team Angelina’s Deli before being named an All-Star in softball for Plant City Little League.
How long have you been playing softball?
I played T-ball starting at age 4, then started playing softball when I was 5. I even played Little League one season with the boys until COVID stopped everything. So, I’ve been playing for 6 years.
What’s a position that you haven’t played yet that you’d like to give a try?
None. I’ve tried every position!
If you’re not playing softball, what are you doing in your free time?
Collecting sports cards
What’s the easiest and hardest thing about softball?
The easiest thing is going out there and having fun with my friends. The hardest thing is batting.
What’s your favorite thing to eat after a softball game?
Pizza!
What’s your favorite song to get you hyped for a softball game?
Champion by Carrie Underwood and Ludacris
What advice would you give to someone who wanted to try softball for the first time?
Have fun and work hard!
If you could make your own softball team, what would you name it and what colors would the jerseys be?
I’d name it the Phillies with red and powder blue because the Phillies are my favorite team.
Is there a rule in softball that you’d like to change?
Infield fly rule. I’d get rid of it.
