2025 INFINITI QX60 A BLEND OF STYLE, SPIRITED PERFORMANCE
Despite some solid competition from the likes of Volvo XC90, Lexus GX, Audi Q7 and Acura MDX, it is admirable that the Infiniti QX60 has stood its ground. And now even more so as the 2025 model hits the dealer showrooms with an all-new 4-cylinder engine replacing the previous V-6. Essentially, it means a loss of horsepower of 27 and pounds-feet by 16, but the 2.0-liter variable-compression 4-cylinder turbo engine is not just fuel efficient but also quiet and smooth.
The seven-seater midsize SUV now puts out 268 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 286 pounds-feet of torque at 4800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, resulting in a receptive drivetrain. It is plenty to power the 4,696-pound vehicle toward its destination with poise and skill-footedness. Have a boat to tow? Well, the QX60 can get the job done for up to 6,000-pound weight. With its four-wheel-drive system, switch on auto, 2WD, 4HI or 4Lo modes as per the road/weather conditions. A MacPherson strut front and a multilink independent rear suspension deliver a comfortable and well-damped ride. The power-assisted, rack-and-pinion steering provides excellent feedback to the driver. Standard, eco, sport, personal and snow modes make the SUV an eminently practical ride.
For 2025, Infiniti has introduced an appealing Black Edition package ($1,900), which comes with black grille surround, roof rails, rear emblems and headliner, as well as illuminated Infiniti emblem and kick plate. All these touches make the QX60 a standout SUV on the road. Eight-way power semi-aniline/quilted front heated/cooled seats are spacious and comfy. With both the rear seats down, you get 75.4 cubic feet of space, plenty for a run to the hardware store in a crunch. And of course, there is the massive hidden storage bin under the cargo bay for personal possessions. The cabin is simple, straightforward with all the controls and knobs within easy reach and touch such as the 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Also new is an upgraded 17-speaker Bose sound system. Rear door sunshades and power lift gate/moon roof, silver-metallic accents, tri-zone auto a/c, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are standard.
Dual front and side airbags, side curtain airbag for all rows, front knee airbags, four-wheel disc brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, blind spot-, forward collision- and lane departure warnings, rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera, hill start and distance control assists, front/rear park sensors, adaptive cruise control, daytime running lights and a tire pressure monitor are standard.
If in the market for a family SUV with pleasant looks, powerful engine and a top-notch interior, you would be remiss to pass on the QX60. And for peace of mind, the ride comes with Infiniti Premium Care, an integrated maintenance program that includes up to three years of inspections, oil changes, tire rotations, brake fluid change, in cabin air-filter replacement and tire road hazard.
