Buddy Bennett, president of the Plant City Dolphins football and cheerleading organization, died Tuesday morning, team sources confirmed.
Bennett, who worked tirelessly as the Dolphins’ president for 20 years, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2013. Even in the face of the diagnosis, Bennett was known for toughing it out in order to be with the teams at all times.
Public visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Plant City from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Plant City, with graveside service to follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
The family encourages all who attend the funeral service to wear Dolphin colors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Plant City Dolphins program.
