Longtime Plant City Commissioner Bill Dodson kicked off reelection campaign with a breakfast Feb. 13, at Johnson Barbeque.
Dodson has been in continuous service to the City of Plant City for more than 39 years. He first arrived in Plant City in 1974 and worked as assistant city manager. His professional work experience includes a position as assistant city manager of Temple Terrace and as city manager of Enfield, N.C. Dodson returned in 1980, to Plant City to join the family tile/brick manufacturing businessFlorida Brick and Clay Co. Inc. He has held the position of senior vice president since 1980.
Dodson served for 24 years (22 as chairman) on the Plant City Planning Board. In 2002, he was elected to the City Commission and was re-elected to a second, third and fourth term with no opposition. During his tenure, his colleagues elected him as mayor in 2003 to 2004.
Dodson has been married to Silvia Azorin, of Plant City, since 1976. They have two grown children, Austin and Brittney, who live and work in Philadelphia and San Francisco.
