Isaac Thomas Macher, 24, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and felon in possession of a firearm.
An arrest has been made in the Friday, Jan. 20, shooting that involved a Plant City Police Department officer.
Isaac Macher Thomas, 24, of Winter Haven, was arrested Monday, Jan. 23.
Thomas was arrested following an incident Friday night that began at the McDonald's restaurant on James L. Redman Parkway. After allegedly firing his weapon toward a uniformed police officer in a patrol car, Thomas fled in a vehicle. When approached by a second uniformed officer, Thomas, according to police reports, pointed the weapon at the officer in a threatening manner.
The action led the officer, Sgt. James Burchett, to discharge his weapon on Thomas. Thomas was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Friday night, where he was treated for a gunshot wound he sustained during the incident. The injury, police say, was not life threatening.
He has been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest warrant was executed by the Lakeland Police Department.
Thomas will be taken to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Central County Jail.
