An accident involving two vehicles occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. A tan sedan hit the front tire of a semi on the driver’s side of the truck.
The sedan was traveling northbound on Park Road. The semi had just exited Interstate 4 westbound and had not fully cleared the off ramp when the accident occurred. The off ramp and Park Road northbound were blocked until police cleared the scene at about 4 p.m.
Amanda Verner was also traveling northbound on Park Road when she witnessed the accident. “He sped past me. He was going way too fast,” Verner said.
Plant City Fire Rescue EMS gave medical treatment to the man who had been driving the sedan, but he was not taken to the hospital. “His eye was bleeding, but he was walking,” Verner said.
Brian Gilbert was driving the semi, which belongs to Star Distribution Systems. Pete Brainard, who works in safety and human resources for Star Distribution Systems, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. Brainard said Gilbert did not appear to suffer any injuries, and there was no damage to the truck.
