Hillsborough County Sheriff’s detectives have obtained an additional arrest warrant for Steven Myers charging him with five counts of Using a Computer/Electronics, in his case a cell phone, to seduce and solicit a minor for sex. The registered sex offender disappeared with 16-year-old Ashley Lyon on June 11. They were found in Lafayette, La.
The warrant will be served on Myers who is currently being held in a Lafayette Louisiana County jail. There’s been no time set on when Myers will be transferred from Louisiana to face his criminal charges in Hillsborough County.
Prosecutors in Louisiana and the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office will confer with each other and make the determination on when Myers is brought back to Tampa.
The teen was last seen in her Valrico neighborhood after being grounded. She had been trying to buy marijuana with Myers and his son.
A manhunt led investigators out of state when a tip from a cashier at a truck stop outside Baton Rouge, La. ended with a 40-mile car chase and double stabbing.
After hitting four different vehicles on Interstate 10 in an attempt to block authorities, Myers finally stopped, riding on the sparking rims of his four blown tires. He climbed on the truck hood and yelled for police to kill him before stabbing himself, authorities said.
He was attacked by a police dog and shocked with a Taser before officers arrested him.
Police then found a wounded Ashley in the disabled truck’s cab. Myers had apparently stabbed her eight times in the front of her torso and twice in the back.
She is now coping with a blood clot and remains hospitalized in Louisiana. Hillsborough Country Sheriff’s detectives are heading to Lafayette to attempt an interview with Lyon. The outcome of that interview and any evidentiary information obtained will remain confidential at this time.
