A Plant City man was shot near 516 E. Laura St. early Tuesday morning
Police are asking for help identifying suspects involved in a Tuesday morning shooting near midtown.
Police said John J. Keeper was shot near a residence at 516 E. Laura St. around 1:40 Tuesday morning. According to a release from Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, an unknown suspect, believed to be a black male, fired a high-powered rifle from a vehicle as it drove by. PCPD was responding to a nearby call when officers heard gunshots and saw a silver Hyundai sedan fleeing from the area of the shooting at a high rate of speed, police said.
Keeper, 49, was shot in the right thigh area and may have additional bullet wounds on his forehead and back, police said. According to PCPD, he was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the suspect's arrest.
