BREAKING NEWS: Police investigating Plant City shooting

UPDATE: The Plant City Police Department have identified the victim in this morning’s shooting.

Detectives have identified the victim as 20-year-old Antwan Gordon, of Plant City. Gordon was treated at a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the upper body.  He is expected to recover.

Detectives have identified a person of interest in this case and are following-up on leads provided by witnesses. They believe this is an isolated incident and that the victim was specifically targeted by the shooter.  There is nothing to indicate any danger to the general public.

This investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Plant City Police Department is investigating this morning the community’s second shooting in a week.

According to Sgt. Tray Towles, one victim is in the hospital after a shooting at about 8 a.m. April 30, in the area of West Warren and South Waller streets, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Detectives have not identified the victim, who was in stable condition and being treated at a local hospital.

This investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
