Your Monday commute may face some detours. The Florida Department of Transportation is closing Thonotosassa Road at Reynolds Street in Plant City starting at 8 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Crews will be installing new drainage pipes underneath Reynolds Street between Thonotosassa Road and Carey Street starting on Monday, Sept. 10 at 8 a.m.
The Florida Department of Transportation will be closing a section of the roadway for approximately five days, weather permitting, according to FDOT. Any motorist attempting to enter the area will be detoured via Alexander Street, Frontage Road and Wheeler Street. There will be warning signs and electronic message boards in use along the roadway to direct traffic.
The residents and businesses, including DaVita Plant City Dialysis, will still have access during the closure. Heavier than normal traffic on all of the nearby roads should be expected for the full five days.
This planned work is part of the $1.1 million repaving project of eastbound Thonotosassa Road and Reynolds Street. Pedestrian signals and a five foot sidewalk will also be added. The project began July 2017 and is expected to finish in the fall of 2018.
