Plant City soon will have another barbecue restaurant.
Brandon-based Uncle Mike’s Smokehouse Grill announced today plans to expand into the Strawberry Capital of the World.
The new restaurant will open Aug. 8, at 106 S.R. 60 E., the location of the former Cowboys Steakhouse and Saloon. The restaurant will celebrate the opening with performances by Clemons Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10. The restaurant will add about 30 to 35 jobs to Plant City.
Plant City residents Mike and Simone Tolley opened the original Uncle Mike’s in 2010. The restaurant’s name comes from Mike Tolley, who has 49 nieces and nephews.
“Simone and I are very excited to be expanding, adding a second location and providing another alternative country-style venue for the area to enjoy,” Mike Tolley said in a prepared statement. “We have so much to thank the community for and feel the entire community will be as excited as we are with the added possibilities this location provides.”
