One Plant City Police Department officer was taken to a local hospital today after a motorcycle crash.
According to police reports, at about 1:15 p.m. Nov. 5, officer Kyle Russell was driving his police motorcycle southbound on Alexander Street, approaching Mud Lake Road. A second driver, who is not being identified at this time, turned left from Mud Lake Road onto Alexander Street into Russell’s path. Russell made an evasive maneuver but was unable to avoid striking the left rear of the second vehicle.
Russell was thrown from the motorcycle on impact. He was wearing all of his agency safety gear but sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
The investigation continues at this time and more information will be released as it becomes available.
