Kathy Flemister spotted this “unknown mushroom” in her back yard. “Not having it for dinner,” she said. The mushroom appears to be a Strobilomyces strobilaceus, better known as the “Old Man of the Woods” bolete. Though that is an edible mushroom, it’s always a good idea to avoid eating fungi you can’t identify.
