When Hurricane Michael slashed through the Florida panhandle on Wednesday, the members of Charger Wrestling Club knew they had to go help those affected recover.
The club is planning to load up a trailer, truck bed or whatever they can use with supplies and drive up to the panhandle this Saturday to distribute items to people in need. The wrestlers are seeking donations of sleeping bags, blankets, clean clothes, non-perishable food items, bug spray and more, and anyone who wishes to help them can bring the items to the club tonight and tomorrow. Coach Will Terry said the plan is for the group to drive north first thing Saturday morning and spend the day helping people before heading back to town.
Donations can be dropped off tonight from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 4-5:30 p.m. or until the truck/trailer is filled up. Charger Wrestling Club is located on the Florida Strawberry Festival grounds and uses the auxiliary building directly behind the grandstands at the Wish Farms Soundstage. The building address is 2301 W. Oak Ave.
