David J. Buyens joined the staff on Jan. 11.
The City of Plant City welcomed David J. Buyens as the new assistant utilities director on Monday, Jan. 11, at the City Commission meeting
Before joining the city's staff, Buyens served for 23 years with the engineering firm Chastain-Skillman Inc. Buyens' previous experience also includes the interim City Engineer consulting services from January to March 2015, and working on the City of Plant City's Pond Study. He also worked on the City of Lakeland's Highland Ground Storage Reservoir, the Southwest Area Water Distribution System Plan, the Lakeland Electric Saddle Creek Substation and the City of Auburndale's Water Plant Upgrade and Elevated Water Storage Reservoir.
Buyens holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Purdue University, and a master's in civil engineering from the University of South Florida. He also is a Florida Registered Professional Engineer and Leadership in Energy and Design (LEED) Green Associate.
