The flag was originally given to the Civitan Club by Congressman Gus Bilirakis.
The Plant City Photo Archives and History Center's search for a permanent flag is over.
The Civitan Club of Plant City recently donated an American flag to the center, in a presentation led by club president Pat Pogue and Photo Archives Executive Director Gil Gott. According to Gott, the center felt that it needed a permanent flag to fly at the increasing number of meetings it hosts.
The flag was presented to the Civitan Club in 2009 by Congressman Gus Bilirakis, intended as a gift for the club's 55th anniversary. It had previously flown over the Capitol, and also with another flag at Buddy Freddy's for Civitan Club meetings. According to Pogue, the club decided to donate its anniversary flag upon hearing that the center was looking for a permanent flag.
