Dozens are gathering to celebrate community services director Jim McDaniel’s retirement at an open house reception today Sept. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sadye Gibbs Martin Auditorium in city hall.
McDaniel has worked for the city for 35 years. He will still be working part time for six months to a year to oversee some unfinished projects like the Brownfield clean up projects.
“I’ll probably go fishing,” McDaniel joked about his plans after he finishes his part time work.
McDaniel has been instrumental in many community projects throughout the years.
One of McDaniel’s favorite community project was the Samuel W. Cooper Park on 900 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The 11-acre park was dedicated in 2005 and contains a 7-acre lake to prevent flooding in the Lincoln Park community. It also has a paved .6-mile walking trail.
McDaniel grew up in the surrounding neighborhood and feels an attachment to the park.
“It has proven to be a popular attraction in the community,” McDaniel said.
He has also assisted the Improvement League of Plant City in restoring the Bing Rooming House on South Allen Street. President of the league Liesta Sykes and vice president William Thomas Jr. presented a plaque of recognition to McDaniel at a city commission meeting on Sept. 24.
“We really felt like this was something we wanted to go on record with and recognize him and say just how proud we are of his leadership,” Sykes said.
McDaniel is married to Denise who has worked for the city’s utility and billing department for 33 years. They have 6 children..” >http://angelvolga.ru/srochno-nuzhni-dengi-v-dolg-v-grodno.php
