January 1

No Clean Getaway – Trespassing W/Arrest

2700 block of Paul Buchman Hwy

An officer responded to the business at the above location in reference to the report of a subject inside that had been previously trespassed. The officer met with the subject who was known to him from previous encounters. The trespass was confirmed and the subject was arrested for trespass after warning and transported to Orient Road Jail. 

January 12

That’s Methed Up – Possession Narcotics

N. Knight St & E. Gilchrist St

An officer responded to the area of Gilchrist Park in reference to an adult male causing a disturbance with subjects at the park. The subject was located by the officer and was advised by multiple complainants that the subject was holding a wooden fence board with exposed nails. The officer made contact with the subject, and after verbal commands, the subject put the wooden fence board down. However, he began to resist the officer by bracing his body, tensing his muscles, and interlocking his hands to prevent being handcuffed. The officer was able to get the subject cuffed and under control without injury or incident. Concluding this investigation, the subject was arrested and charged with resisting arrest without violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and disorderly conduct. The subject also met Baker Act criteria and was transported to Orient Road Jail, turned over to HCSO booking Deputies without incident, and Baker Act paperwork was completed.

Whisky Business – DUI Arrest

East Highway 92 & North County Line Road

An officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound on North Park Road. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle due to the numerous infractions near the above-listed intersection. Contact was made with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, who was advised of the reasoning for the stop. The driver was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

January 13

You Can’t Stay Here – Trespass After Warning

2700 block of Thonotosassa Rd

Officers responded to the above location and met with staff who stated a subject had an active open trespass from a previous incident.  Contact was made with the subject and the trespass warning was confirmed, along with his probation status.  The subject was placed under arrest for trespass after warning, and violation of probation, and subsequently transported to Orient Road Jail.

 Carrot Top? – Shoplifting

1400 block of S. Collins St

Officers responded to the above location and met with staff. It was learned that a subject with orange hair had stolen several items before fleeing on foot. The subject was later located, placed under arrest, and transported to Orient Road Jail. 

January 14

Breakfast to Go – Shoplifting

1200 block of Thonotosassa Rd

An officer was conducting active patrol of his assigned area and was flagged down by an employee at the business at the above location in reference to a theft. Upon investigation, it was learned that a subject was seen concealing an egg sandwich and a coffee drink and exiting the store without paying. Later in the shift, an officer was conducting active patrol and observed the subject on James L Redman Pkwy. Upon contact, the subject threw a block of cheese in an attempt to avoid further charges. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to Orient Road Jail.

Say Cheese! – Shoplifting

2200 block of James L Redman Pkwy

While in contact with the cheese thrower in the previous description, it was discovered that the cheese was a triangle-shaped block of Cotija cheese. The officer made contact with several of the nearby businesses in an attempt to discover if an additional theft had occurred. It was discovered that the cheese had indeed come from a local business, so the subject received an additional felony petit theft charge along with tampering with evidence. 

January 15

Scamming the Scanner – Retail Theft

2600 block of James L Redman Pkwy

An officer responded to the above location and met with loss prevention who detained a subject for intentionally failing to scan $56.19 worth of merchandise. The subject met the criteria for APAD and was released after agreeing to the program. 

But I’m Just Traveling – DWLSR

W. Baker St & N Plant Ave

An officer conducted a traffic stop at the above-listed intersection due to a traffic infraction. Contact was made with the driver and registered owner, and it was learned they have a suspended license with two prior DWLSR convictions. The driver was placed under arrest for felony DWLSR with knowledge and transported to Orient Road Jail.
