Cops Corner 01.15.16

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

Dec. 25

GET OFF MY LAWN

1200 block of East Reynolds Street. Information report. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a disturbance. Complainant stated that he had gotten into a verbal argument with his neighbor, who had left before the officer arrived on the scene. Complainant told the officer that he would “stab” his neighbor if the man set foot on his property. Officer advised the complainant about state self-defense laws and initiated an information report.

Dec. 26

SO MUCH FOR CHRISTMAS

2100 block of Johnson Loop. Residential burglary. Officer met with complainant, who stated that unknown suspect(s) broke into their home. Complainant reported that a 70-inch flat screen television set, Xbox One, WiiU and PlayStation 4 video game consoles and several pieces of jewelry were stolen.

Dec. 28

TIRE THIEF

South Frontage Road/Son Keen Road. Grand theft. Officers responded to the area in reference to a reported theft. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) removed and stole eight wheels and tires from a trailer.

AS SEEN ON TV

1400 block of South Collins Street. Aggravated battery. Officers responded to a business in reference to a disturbance. Complainant stated that, while he was attempting to repossess a vehicle, the owner stayed in the front seat and refused to turn it over. Complainant then put the car in drive, pulled onto the sidewalk and backed directly into the complainant before driving off. The owner was able to be tracked to the 3500 block of West Baker Street by the vehicle’s GPS system. Complainant declined to press charges and signed a waiver of prosecution, and the vehicle was then repossessed.

Dec. 30

LOST AND FOUND

100 block of South Howard Street. Found handgun. Officer responded to a residence in reference to a found handgun. A woman had reportedly found a gray Kel-Tec .380-caliber pistol in a dumpster. Officers ran the serial number, and the gun came up negative.

Dec. 31

HEADPHONE HIJACKER

1300 block of West Redbud Street. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a residence following a report of vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) entered their 2015 Chevrolet Traverse SUV and stole three wireless DVD player headsets and a cell phone charger. The total value of the stolen items was $340.

Jan. 1

CRAPPY NEW YEAR

3840 block of Crystal Dew Street. Grand theft. Officer met with complainant, who had been visiting from out of state. Complainant stated that, overnight, unknown suspect(s) stole his bicycle from the rack of top of his vehicle. The Surly Long Haul Trucker bike was valued at $700, but the complainant did not have a serial number for the bike on hand. He said he needed a case number for insurance purposes, and signed a waiver of prosecution.

Jan. 2

SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL

South Frontage Road/North Wheeler Street. Found property. Officers responded to a residence on the 1200 block of Robin Drive in reference to found property. Complainant stated that, while walking near the intersection two weeks prior, he found a plastic bag filled with 9mm and .38-caliber ammunition. Complainant took the bag and tried to give the ammunition away, but no one wanted it. Complainant then contacted PCPD to turn the ammo in.

Jan. 6

DOWN ONE DONUT

1400 block of Plantation Grove Court. Vehicle burglary. Officer responded to a residence following a reported vehicle burglary. Complainant stated that unknown suspect(s) stole the spare tire from the trunk of his 2000 Chevrolet Malibu car. The tire was valued at $50.
