MARCH 18

YIKES

Alexander Street South of Airport Road. Throwing Deadly Missile at Occupied Vehicle. The victim said she was driving north on Alexander Street, when an unknown suspect(s) threw a piece of cement block at her driver’s window and caused the window to shatter.

MUST HAVE BBQ

Unknown Location. Residential Burglary. The victim reported someone entered the screened porch by pulling the door open and stole a metal rack off a Uniflame grill.  The value was $10.

GAS GUZZLER

3830 block of Fancy Farms Road. Theft of Diesel Fuel. Unknown person(s) stole 1,000 gallons of diesel, valued at $5,800.

BUSTED

West Granfield Avenue and West C.R. 574. Drug Investigation. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a green 1995 Ford Explorer. The officer approached the vehicle and detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted of the vehicle and  revealed 98.8 grams of marijuana.

OOPS

2000 block of South Frontage Road. Stolen Vehicle. The victim advised his 1994 Jeep was parked in the parking lot while he went off with his girlfriend in her car. When he returned, the vehicle was gone. The manager of restaurant stated the vehicle was not in the parking lot at 2:30 a.m., when she arrived at work. The vehicle was later recovered at 1802 James L. Redman Parkway.  The victim then indicated he had just forgotten where he left it parked.

SNEAKY SNEAKY

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. A store employee scanned items for two customers in two separate transactions and then voided the transactions, allowing them to exit the store with the items without paying. The total amount of items scanned and voided was $809.49.

SENSELESS ACT

1310 block of East Cherry Street. Criminal Mischief. A neighbor saw two white males break the front window of the residence and run north on Gordon Street. Several officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Total damages $150 for window and screen.

FOUND REMAINS

Intersection of Hunter and Grant streets. Information (Found Bones). A citizen found bones of an unknown type when walking along the trail. A detective responded to the scene and collected the bones for further evaluation from the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office.

MARCH 19

JACKED JACKHAMMERS

500 block of Sandalwood Drive. Vehicle Theft. The victim reported someone stole five air pavement breakers from the bed of a 2011 Dodge truck.

MISSING MEDICAL GEAR

1210 block of West Redbud Street. Vehicle Burglary. The victim reported someone stole a medical bag with blood-pressure cuffs, bandages and a Gateway laptop computer from an unlocked vehicle. Total value of stolen property is about $500.

CITY PROPERTY

100 block of North Palmer Street. Vehicle Burglary. An unknown person stole a City of Plant City backpack sprayer and large shovel (about $90) from the bed of the City of Plant City truck.

SCAM ALERT

1800 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Fraud. The victim advised that a subject, who claimed to be “Carl Thomas,” came into her store and sold her an advertisement costing $100 to be placed at a local business. She later discovered that this was a scam.

MARCH 20

UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT

3110 block of Emerson Place. Animal Bite. A 13-month-old child was bit on the head by a pit bull when the child went to the dog’s food bowl. This happened while the child was being watched by her mother. Animal Control responded to the home.

CAUGHT RED-HANDED

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Shoplifting. The suspect removed tags from several items and put them on under her clothes and concealed others in her purse and pocket. She then walked past all points of sale in an attempt to leave the store. The value of the items was $81.81.

GAMER GETAWAY

1500 block of East Cherry Street. Residential Burglary. Unknown suspect(s) smashed a bedroom window to gain entry to the residence. The suspect(s) then stole an Xbox, PlayStation, two iPods and jewelry, with a total value of about $4,500.

THREE STRIKES

700 block of Wilder Road. Vehicle Burglaries. A black 2005 Ford Taurus had its front passenger window smashed out, but the owner confirmed no contents were missing. A red 2005 Nissan had its driver’s side rear door window smashed, and a purse and its contents were stolen. A 2001 Honda van had its driver’s side front window shattered. Two purses and their contents were taken from the van.

DRIVE-THRU DRAMA

2310 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Aggravated Assault. An unknown black male arrived at the restaurant in a newer model, sky blue Mustang. The suspect walked up to the drive-thru window and pointed a black handgun at the victim. The victim does not know the suspect but recognized him from a road-rage incident that had occurred earlier in the evening. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

KEEP YOUR WALLET INSIDE

4730 block of South Dawn Meadow Court. Vehicle Burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle and took a wallet, which contained $200 in cash and a debit card. A neighbor advised he saw three subjects wearing all black leaving the area and walking toward the park. Officers responded to the area and searched but were unable to locate any suspicious subjects matching that description.

MARCH 21

DEADBEAT

300 block of West Alexander Street. Grand Theft/Fraud. According to the bank, the suspect deposited four separate checks in an account belonging to a deceased male.  The checks totaled more than $5,000. The suspect then used the debit card in the deceased male’s name to get cash.

LOST AND FOUND

4300 block of Sterling Commerce Drive. Stolen Vehicle Recovery. A 1998 green Jeep Cherokee reported stolen out of Orange County was located abandoned in the hotel parking lot.

MARCH 22

NEXT TIME, LEAVE THE PILLS HOME

2100 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. The two suspects placed about $1,250 worth of merchandise into a cart and attempted to walk past all points of sale without offering to pay. Both were placed under arrest for retail theft. During a search, officers discovered 30 Hydrocodone pills.

HOW WERE THEY PLANNING TO GET THE TV HOME?!?

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. Two suspects placed a 58-inch Sanyo television into a shopping cart and pushed it past all points of sale without offering to pay. This was observed by a store employee, who asked to see a receipt. When one was unable to be produced, both subjects fled out of the store on foot then onto awaiting bicycles. They fled from the store, where they were apprehended a short time later.

JOKE’S ON THEM

1700 block of West Baker Street. Business Burglary. Officers responded to the business reference an alarm call. Upon arrival, learned that 10 display cell phones that do not work were stolen. Total value is $100.

ELECTRONICS ZAPPED

700 block of East Ohio Street. Residential Burglary. The victim reported that someone entered the residence (no force) and stole a 36-inch Vizio TV, valued at $500; a JVC camcorder, valued at $400; and a PS3, valued at $300.

REALLY?! A SWASTIKA?!

Corner of Silverstone Court and Silvermoon Drive. Criminal Mischief. Unknown person(s) used black spray paint to paint a swastika on the roadway.

THAT’S A LITTLE UNSETTLING
