DEFINITELY NOT FUNNY
10 block of South Maryland Avenue. Disturbance/Student with a Gun Complaint. Officers responded to the school to help a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office school resource deputy, when an unknown male called both the Sheriff’s Office and the Plant City Police Department to report a student having a gun at school. The caller was later identified as a student, who stated he called, because it was “funny.” The Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation after the school was determined to be safe.
HOT WHEELS
3200 block of Stevenson Street. Stolen/Recovered Vehicle. Overnight, an unknown person stole a 2002 Isuzu Trooper SUV from the driveway. While checking the area, the SUV was found abandoned a few blocks from the victim’s home.
VANDALS STRIKE
2700 block of West Reynolds Street. Criminal Mischief. Unknown person(s) broke a metal handrail off a walkway and broke the windows of a shed in the gray parking area. According to staff, nothing else was damaged or stolen. The damage is estimated at about $100.
NOT TOO BRIGHT
1720 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. A black male suspect, wearing a dark ball cap, gray shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, took a flashlight and walked out the store without offering to pay. The suspect was detained by an officer and positively identified by the clerk. The flashlight was valued at $7.99, and the suspect was arrested.

DEEP CUTS
1300 block of West Spencer Street. Grand Theft. Unknown suspect(s) stole a Stihl chainsaw, valued at $435, from shed No. 9 of the Stormwater Division.
TECH TROUBLE
1100 block of Whitehurst Street. Burglary. Unknown person(s) broke a window to the home and stole about $2,000 worth of electronics and a guitar.
MARIJUANA MYSTERY
1300 block of East Ohio Street. Found Property. Officers responded to the home in reference to the homeowner finding a marijuana plant on the back of her property. The plant was located in a bucket and was about 18 inches tall with thick buds. The plant was put into evidence for safekeeping/destruction.
SCARY SITUATION
1000 block of West Baker Street. Warrant/Resisting Arrest Without Violence/False Imprisonment/False Name to Law Enforcement. Officers responded to the location in reference to a 911 hang-up with a disturbance in the background. Once on scene, it was learned that through witnesses that a male and two females involved in the disturbance had gone into the apartment. Officers knocked on the door with no response but could see movement inside. Officers knocked on the door for about 20 minutes, until a male finally yelled out that everyone inside was OK and that the officer could leave. The officer advised he was not leaving until he made sure everyone inside the apartment was OK. The male told the officer he was not allowing him inside and that he would have to kick the door in. The apartment manager was notified and responded with a key. Entry was made, at which time, it was learned two female victims were inside and the suspect was not allowing them to leave. Officers also discovered the suspect had an outstanding Hillsborough County warrant for petit theft. The suspect was arrested.

BIG-SCREEN BURGLARY
1600 block of North Franklin Street. Residential Burglary. The victim reported that an unknown person(s) entered the unsecured garage and stole three flat-screen TVs, valued at $1,500.
CHECK, PLEASE
2900 block of Forest Hammock Drive. Vehicle Burglary. The victim reported someone entered his unlocked Ford F150 truck and stole his checkbooks. The checkbooks were recovered by a neighbor in the 3000 block of Sutton Woods Drive. One check was missing.
HORRIBLE HOMECOMING
600 block of North Palm Drive. Residential Burglary. The victim returned home from being out of town for three weeks to discover his front window open. He discovered the following items were taken: Sony 59-inch LED TV, valued at $1,100, and three watches, valued at $415.

1700 block of North Park Road. Criminal Mischief. City employees advised the skate park shed had been spray-painted with a face and the words, “Stupid Redneck.”

BAD DECISION
Intersection of West Warren and Waller streets. Fleeing to Elude. An officer attempted a traffic stop on a black GMC SUV for running a stop sign at Madison and Waller streets. The vehicle did not stop for the officer and continued at a high rate of speed, turning onto Hunter Street. The officer turned off his emergency equipment and did not pursue the vehicle, because of the conditions in the area. As the officer came to a stop at Ball and Hunter streets, citizens were waving their arms at the corner of Ball and Waller streets. The officer drove to the area and observed the black GMC had crashed into another vehicle, and the driver was fleeing on foot. The officer apprehended the suspect at Madison and Waller streets.
MISSING ACCESSORIES
2600 block of Eagle Greens Drive. Residential Burglary. The victim discovered some jewelry items missing. The victim indicated that sometime prior to May 20, the sliding door was found unlocked, but nothing was noticed missing until now. About $900 in jewelry was taken from the residence.
BOLD MOVE
300 block of North Alexander Street. Grand Theft. An officer was dispatched to the hospital and, upon arrival, observed hospital security chasing two subjects who had dropped a stolen nitrous-oxide tank in the ditch. One suspect was arrested.

FUNNY MONEY
2300 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Fraud. Officers responded after the bank staff confronted an unknown black female about a counterfeit check in the amount of $6,000. The female fled the bank, running westbound, before police arrival. The suspect was not located.
MAYBE A SAFE, NEXT TIME?
1000 block of South Alexander Street. Burglary. Unknown person(s) gained entry to one of the storage units. The victim said about $40,000 worth of jewelry was taken, as well as china and miscellaneous clothing, worth an additional $20,000. There were no signs of forced entry.
