July 14

HOT PLATE

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Stolen Tag. Unknown suspect(s) stole a license plate off a company vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot.

SMASH AND GRAB

2700 block of Turkey Creek Road. Burglary. Unknown suspect(s) broke the front window of the store and stole $3,064.22 worth of property.

FUNNY MONEY

2400 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Fraud. The suspect passed a counterfeit $50 bill at the fast-food restaurant. The bill was entered into evidence.

TIPSY-TURVY

510 block of South Maryland Avenue. Beverage Violation. The suspect was arrested for violation of city ordinance pertaining to consumption of alcohol within 500 feet of a licensed establishment. The suspect was released from the scene with a court date.

IT’S NOT MEDICINAL

Intersection of Thonotosassa Road and Cedar Run Drive. Drug Investigation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving without headlights. Upon making contact with the driver, they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested after he admitted to possessing a small amount of “weed.”

July 15

NOT-SO FUN RUN

1900 block of Bargo Street. Dog Bite. The victim stated he was running for exercise when four dogs came after him and bit him. Officers made contact with the owner of the dogs and referred the case to Hillsborough County Animal Services.

BIG MISTAKE

Intersection of East Baker Street and North Maryland Avenue. Resist Officer with Violence. Officers pulled over a vehicle after observing the driver not wearing a seat belt. The driver refused to produce identification or give the officers the necessary information to identify him. Officers ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver attempted to flee on foot and struck one of the officers in the shoulder area. After a short struggle, the suspect was arrested for resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.

NEW THREADS

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Shoplifting. Juvenile suspects were arrested and charged with stealing $48.70 worth of clothing.

CURIOUS CASH

2100 block of West Baker Street. Fraud. A subject came into the store and attempted to purchase several items with fake $20 and $5 bills. The clerk checked the bills with a detector pen and confirmed they were counterfeit. The suspect left the store prior to the arrival of officers.

CRIME OF OPPORTUNITY

Intersection of Alexander Street and Victoria Avenue. Stolen Vehicle. Two juveniles arrested for the theft of a motor vehicle. Upon making contact with the owner of the vehicle, it was determined she had left the vehicle parked with the keys in the ignition. Both juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

July 16

PHONY 40

1400 block of South Collins Street. Counterfeit Bill. Two fake $20 bills were used. They were confiscated and placed into evidence.

STOLEN SYSTEM

1600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Vehicle Burglary. Entry to vehicle was gained by breaking a window. Unknown suspect(s) stole $1,050 in stereo equipment.

July 17

MISSING MAKEUP

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Shoplifting/Petit Theft. Two juveniles arrested after they were observed concealing cosmetics in a purse. The suspects were transported to the police department for processing and later were released to their parents. The stolen property, valued at $34.34, was returned to the store.

WRONG TURN

1300 block of Charlie Griffin Road. Missing Adult. Michael Marchner, 92, was reported missing. He was last seen at Walmart around 7:51 a.m. and was scheduled to go to the doctor, but he never made it. Marchner later returned home and advised that he got lost and ended up in Lakeland.

COPPER CRIME

2300 block of Maki Road. Residential Burglary. Unknown suspect(s) broke the rear door and stole a water heater and stripped the copper from the outside air-conditioning unit sometime between July 15 and 17.

WAS IT WORTH IT?

2600 block of James L. Redman Parkway. Retail Theft. The suspect was arrested for retail theft in the amount of $11.65. He was later transported to Orient Road Jail.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS

900 block of South Waller Street. Arson. Suspect(s) smashed the toilet and lit the toilet paper dispenser on fire, causing minor fire and smoke damage.

DEEP POCKETS

Intersection of Northwest Drane and North Howard streets. Driving with a Suspected License and Armed Trafficking. Officers conducted a traffic stop for an inoperable tag light. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license. The front-seat passenger was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm, armed trafficking of methamphetamine (14.8 grams), possession of crack cocaine (2.9 grams) and possession of marijuana (2.8 grams).

July 18

DAMAGE DONE

1200 block of North Park Road. Battery. The victim stated the suspect pulled his hair and caused him to drop his computer, causing damage to it. A Request for Prosecution was completed and issued to the victim, because the offense did not occur in the presence of the officer.

QUICK STRIKE

700 block of Wiggins Court. Vehicle Burglary. The victim stated her purse had been stolen from her vehicle. It was taken sometime between 8 and 9:30 a.m. the previous day. The victim canceled her debit card, and there was no damage to the vehicle or locks.

STREET ILLEGAL

Intersection of Northwest Drane and Howard streets. Possession of Methamphetamine. The suspect was stopped for a bicycle violation.
