Cops Corner 09.05.14

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Plant City Police Department.

AUG. 15

BAD CHECK

North Maryland Avenue. Counterfeiting. Officers responded to this store, in reference to a white male cashing a stolen/forged check on July 6. The check was discovered on Aug. 14.

ROGUE RUGeR

East Alsobrook Street. Stolen Handgun. The victim came to the Plant City Police Department to report his Ruger 9 mm semi-automatic handgun (model LC9, serial number 321-39952) stolen from his home.

NICE TRY

West Grant Street. Attempted Vehicle Theft. Overnight, unknown person(s) entered a Dodge van and damaged the ignition trying to get it started. The van would not start.

WARDROBE MALFUNCTION

2910 block of West Reynolds Street. Vehicle Burglary. Officers met with the victim, who stated two suitcases full of her clothing were taken out from the bed of her truck.

PURSE PROBLEM

2600 block of 2602 James L. Redman Parkway. Theft. The victim stated she was unloading groceries and left her purse in the shopping cart. A Hispanic female who was walking by, grabbed the purse, entered a plum-colored vehicle (possible Chevy), and left the parking lot. The purse was a Dooney & Bourke and contained the victim’s iPhone.

AUG. 16

PANE PAIN

1200 block of North Gordon Street. Criminal Mischief. The homeowner reported she was a victim of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, officer’s discovered one her home windows, valued at about $100, had been broken by an apparent BB gunshot.

THANKS A LOT, AMSCOT

100 block of South Alexander Street. Theft/Fraud. The victim arrived at the police department to report a suspect had stolen one of his personal checks and later cashed it for $250 at Amscot. The victim stated he did not provide the check, complete it or sign it.

HEAVY METAL

310 block of East Tomlin Street. Aggravated Battery. The victim was hit in the head with an unknown metal object. The victim sustained minor injuries, because he was able to deflect the blow. The victim did not want to pursue charges and signed a waiver of prosecution.

AUG. 17

TOOLS TAKEN

Unknown location. Vehicle Burglary. The victim stated that within the last three days, a bag that contained several power tools, was taken from the back seat of his work truck. The victim said he visited several tire shops within the city and county during the weekend. The tools were valued at $840. No serial numbers were available.

THE WALL WINS

Intersection of Magnolia Green Street and West Trapnell Road. Traffic Crash/D.U.I. The officer responded in reference to a vehicle versus a wall crash. Upon arrival, contact was made with the suspect, who was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail.

AUG. 18

COPPER CRIMINAL

4610 block of Lykes Road. Business Burglary. Officers responded to the business in reference to a burglary and theft of copper wiring on Aug. 17. It is unknown the total amount of theft.

PACKAGE PILFERED

1800 block of West House Street. Grand Theft. Officers responded to this house, in reference to an unknown suspect(s) stealing a HP laptop from the porch that was delivered by the USPS on Aug. 8. The laptop is valued at $378.

NICE WORK

600 block of North Warnell Street. Warrant Arrest. While speaking with community members, the officer was able to determine that the suspect had an arrest warrant and could be found on the porch of the provided location. Upon confirming arrest warrants present from two separate counties, contact was made, and the suspect was placed under arrest without incident.

BAD BOYS

Intersection of East Laura and Knight streets. Robbery with Firearm. Officers arrived at the location, in reference to an unknown victim getting robbed by unknown suspects, who fled the location in a gold Toyota Avalon. A second victim encountered the suspects as they departed, at which time, they pushed her down and pointed a firearm at her. No injuries were sustained by the victim.
