An officer was conducting active patrol and observed a vehicle with an expired tag. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was later placed under arrest for drug and probation violations. After arriving at Orient Road Jail, the driver was also charged with introduction of contraband into a facility. The passenger was arrested and issued a Notice to Appear.
Needed Wheels – Theft

An officer met with the victim who reported the theft of a bicycle from the front of his residence.
Scan/Don’t Scan – Shoplifting
2600 block of James L Redman Pkwy
An officer met with loss prevention who had a subject detained for shoplifting. Investigation revealed that the subject selected multiple items and utilized self-checkout to willfully and intentionally not scan select items before leaving the store. The total value of the items was $40.84. The subject was not eligible for APAD but was released with a court date.
Why Take That? – Burglary Vehicle
1000 block of N. Franklin St
An officer met with the victim who reported his two unlocked vehicles were rummaged through in his driveway. The only item he believes to be missing is his vehicle registration valued at $3.00.

Sneaking Around – Warrant Arrest
3500 block of W. Baker St
An officer was conducting an active check of a known homeless camp and located a subject who had an active warrant for failing to appear for loitering and prowling. The subject was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail.
Same Place, Different Crime – Warrant Arrest/Poss of a Firearm/Poss Meth
3500 block of W. Baker St
Officers were conducting an active check of a known homeless camp and located a subject who had an active felony warrant for trafficking methamphetamine. The subject was also placed under arrest for possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine and transported to Orient Road Jail.
I’m Not Stopping! – Flee to Elude
3800 block of Creek Way Ct
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle due to a stop sign violation. Upon activation of overhead lights the subject fled and the vehicle was located abandoned a short while later.
Cowardly Attack – Battery
2500 block of Thonotosassa Rd
An officer met with the victim who was walking to his vehicle at the above location when he was punched from behind by an unknown male. The subject fled on foot and the suspect chased him for a short distance before the victim entered a business.
Let Me In – Disorderly Intoxication
200 block of W. Alexander St
An officer responded to the above location in reference to a subject repeatedly knocking and hitting the front glass doors of the store. Contact was made with the suspect who was still on scene and hitting the glass. The suspect was placed under arrest for disorderly intoxication and transported to Orient Road Jail.

Somebody’s Watching – PC
Pickup/Arrest
300 block of S. Frontage Rd
Officers conducted surveillance at the above listed location in an attempt to locate a subject with an active PC Pickup for stalking. The subject was observed, attempted to flee, and after a brief foot pursuit, was taken into custody. The subject was transported to Orient Road Jail.
This Place Again? – Trespass
After Warning
3500 block of W. Baker St
Officers were conducting a check of the wooded area in reference to the ongoing trespass/camping issues involving several homeless subjects. Contact was made with a subject who had previously been trespassed from the property in June. The subject was placed under arrest for the violation and transported to Orient Road Jail.
Dine and Dash – Shoplifting
1700 block of James L Redman Pkwy
An officer met with an employee who reported a subject had eaten several sandwiches and did not pay/refused to pay for the items. The subject refused payment when officers arrived and was placed under arrest for felony petit theft due to multiple prior theft convictions. The subject was transported to Orient Road Jail.

Bad Boys, Bad Boys – Warrant Arrest
3300 block of Spooner Dr
Officers responded to the abandoned residence in reference to a suspicious vehicle being parked on the property. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a subject who showed an active fugitive arrest warrant out of HCSO for failure to appear X2 counts. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to Orient Road Jail.
You Lookin for Me? – Warrant Arrest
1 Police Place
An officer responded to the parking lot of the police department in reference to a citizen walk-up. Upon arrival, contact was made with a subject who enquired as to why officers were previously at his girlfriend’s residence attempting to contact him. The subject was advised that he had an active warrant from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) for violation of probation-solicit to commit a lewd act with no bond. The warrant was confirmed via PCSO Operator. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to Orient Road Jail.
