April 20
Mething Around – Grand Theft/Warrant/Possession
1800 block of James L Redman Pkwy
An officer responded to the above location in reference to a theft that had just occurred. Suspect 1 was arrested and charged with grand theft, a VOP warrant, and driving without a license. Suspect 2 was arrested and charged with grand theft. Suspect 3 was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. All three were transported to Orient Road Jail.
Fake It Til You Make It – Fraud
3500 block of W Baker St
Officers responded to the above-listed business in reference to a delayed fraud complaint. Contact was made with the store manager, who advised and unknown male entered the business and fraudulently paid for a $400 Visa gift card and two $20 water guns with a credit card.
April 21
You Again? – DUI 3rd Arrest
E Park Rd/Jim Johnson Rd
An officer responded to the above listed intersection in reference to a suspect asleep/unresponsive operating a vehicle stopped within the roadway of the intersection. Upon arrival, the suspect was observed to be sleeping behind the wheel. The vehicle was running and in drive facing eastbound on E Park Rd. The vehicle was placed in park and the keys were removed. After a few attempts the suspect woke up and was observed to have bloodshot watery/glassy eyes, slurred speech, and a thick tongue. Officers responded to the scene and conducted a DUI investigation. The suspect was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail.
Another Methed Up Case – Warrant/Possession
1800 block of James L Redman Pkwy
An officer made contact with a suspect during a security check. An FCIC/NCIC check revealed the suspect had an active Polk County Sheriff’s Office warrant for FTA-aggravated petit theft. The warrant was confirmed and the suspect was arrested and also charged with possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. The suspect was transported to Orient Road Jail.
As Long As you Don’t Answer – Warrant
2200 block of N Park Rd
An officer responded to the above listed address in reference to a subject talking to herself. Contact was made and it was learned the subject had an outstanding HCSO warrant for VOP possession of a controlled substance and VOP-resist officer without violence. Warrants were confirmed and as the subject was placed under arrest she complained of chest pains and was transported to South Florida Baptist Hospital prior to being transported to Orient Road Jail.
April 22
I’ll Take That – Theft
1300 block of E Baker St
An officer responded to the above location in reference to a delayed theft. Contact was made with the complainant who advised an envelope containing three checks was stolen from the office.
If It’s Free It’s For Me – Shoplifting
2600 James L Redman Pkwy
An officer arrested the subject for Grand Theft after it was determined the subject failed to scan $859.90 worth of merchandise at the self-checkout register and passed the last point of sale without payment.
Pricy Haircut – Battery-Waiver of Prosecution
2000 block of N Wheeler St
An officer met with the complainant who advised a subject gave him money for hair clippers to cut his hair. When he told the subject the package would be arriving after he was leaving, the subject became upset because he thought he was being “scammed” and he struck the complainant once with a closed fist to the face. There were no injuries observed and the complainant signed a Waiver of Prosecution for the battery.
Not So Fast – Warrant
2000 block of N Wheeler St
The subject from the above was arrested after an NCIC/FCIC check revealed he had a Lee County S.O. arrest warrant for Failure to Redeliver Hired or Leased Personal Property and the Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant for violation of probation credit card fraud. Both were confirmed and the subject was transported to Orient Road Jail without incident.
April 23
Is This Ybor? – DUI
W Drane St/S Wheeler St
Officers were completing a traffic stop at the above location when they observed a vehicle with no headlights coming toward them. One officer used his flashlight to illuminate himself and attempt to stop the driver, who attempted to drive around him. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver appeared impaired with watery eyes, and confusion as the driver thought they were in Ybor. The driver had the odor of alcohol on their breath. The driver spontaneously admitted they had been drinking at a local bar. An officer responded to the stop and initiated a DUI investigation. The driver unsatisfactorily completed the Standardized Field Sobriety Exercises and was transported to Orient Road Jail.
