Park Road and E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
DUI Arrest: A crash on Park Road and East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard led to serous injuries and had officers attempting to help at the scene. It was approximately 3:10 a.m. when someone drove around the barricades and into the crash scene. Officers stopped the driver, found he was driving under the influence and transported him to Orient Road Jail.
July 3
The case of the vanishing driver
E. Alexander St. and James L. Redman Parkway
Abandon Vehicle: A Ford Mustang was abandoned at the intersection of E. Alexander Street and James L. Redman Parkway. No one was around to claim or move the vehicle. It was towed when the owner could not be located.

Wheeler Street and Calhoun Street
Found Dog: One officer received a surprise visitor when he was doing a security check. A two to three-year-old Golden Retriever approached his vehicle, decided to go for a ride and jumped in the patrol car. The owner was attempted to be located, but the officers were unsuccessful. Animal control was not available to scan for a chip so they took their new companion to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital where no chip was found. Blue Pearl took custody of the animal and took over the search for its owner.
July 4
Hot VW
602 N. Knight Street
Burglary: Someone cut the lock to the complainant’s shed and took a $150 MasterCraft toolbox. On the outside of the box was a “Hot VW” sticker and the majority of its contents were specialty tools used to work on Volkswagen vehicles.
Unsecured gun equals easy pickings
203 N. Thomas Street
Vehicle Burglary: On July 4 someone broke into a gold 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck that was left unlocked. A Glock 22 .40 caliber with one magazine loaded with 15 .40 rounds was taken from the vehicle. Its serial number is SF067 and is valued to be $500. A yellow “spot light” flashlight was also taken.

N. Park Road and S. Frontage Road
NVDL/Possession of several types of drugs: An expired tag led to a routine traffic stop on July 5. However, upon inspection, the driver was found to not have a valid driver’s license. He also had marijuana, cocaine and cocaine wax tabs on him. The officer transported him to Orient Jail.
