This week on Cop's Corner, Plant City Police examined tires filled with nails, investigated stolen mailboxes and responded to an accidental shooting.
July 6
High-way tank robbery
1205 S. Alexander St.
Theft: Officers responded to the scene where the complainant said an unknown subject cut the hose to the gas tank of a company vehicle. Approximately seven gallons of gasoline were taken from the vehicle.
Click-it or ticket-to-jail
S. Collins St./E. Alabama St.
DWLSR: Officers were conducting a routine traffic stop on a gray Buick SUV because the driver didn’t have a seat belt on. However, during a check by the officers they found the driver had five prior guilty convictions of Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. They arrested the driver and transported him to jail.
July 7
Ripping off granny
1321 Larrick Lane
Fraudulent use of credit card: Officers met with the complainant who said her grandson stole her debit card from her purse and made four transactions, which totaled $88.49. The grandson was arrested and taken to jail.

You’ve got mail
3218 Pine Club Dr.
Grand Theft: A $400 mailbox was stolen out of a person’s yard. There are no leads at this time.

Self sabotage
1702 Hughes Dr.
Accidental shooting: Officers came to this residence after receiving a call about a gunshot to the hand. The man in question said he was unloading his firearm when he accidentally shot himself in his left hand.

Nailing the vandals
2006 Country Club Court
Criminal mischief: Upon arriving at the residence officers met with the complainant who stated unknown subjects flattened a tire on their vehicle. The tire had several nails embedded in it in the shape of a “C.” Officers believe it had been done with a nail gone.
