What is one of your most cherished memories from the Florida Strawberry Festival?
The year I showed my first steer, Bam Bam. We walked into the show ring, I was nervous, he was nervous. He wouldn’t set up his feet right, he wouldn’t stand still. He was acting a fool. But, it was a lot of fun, and it’s my favorite memory still.
What was one of your strengths that helped you succeed in the pageant?
My experience in the FFA helped me out a lot, because without them, I wouldn’t have public-speaking skills.
Why do you want to study veterinary medicine and meat science?
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved animals. Recently, I started on an FFA contest called Meats Evaluation. The meats industry is something that really interests me, so even if I don’t decide to be a vet, that would be a good fallback.
What is something few people know?
I work at a ranch. I get up at 4 every morning, and I feed cows, check on the pregnant moms, see if there are any newborn babies. It’s something that I really enjoy doing, even though it’s crazy that I’m 17 years old, and I get up at 4 in the morning.
Who is someone you admire, and why?
My ag teacher, Kelley Ware. She supports me in everything I do. She’s supported me whether it be a cow show, a job at a ranch, or even doing Strawberry Queen. She’s one of the greatest people in my life.
