At about 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, a party bus carrying students to Durant High School’s homecoming dance hit a sedan at the intersection of Reynolds Street and Woodrow Wilson Street.
Witnesses reported that the sedan pulled out into the way of the bus before the driver of the bus could slow down. An official report was unavailable at the time of the accident.
A woman who had been in the sedan was taken from the scene in a stretcher. Some students on the bus had minor injuries, but none were immediately taken to the hospital, according to Plant City Fire Rescue paramedic Rick Sullivan.
Pamela Bowden, principal of Durant, estimated that the bus had been carrying about 30 students.
“All their parents have been called,” she said. “They just want to get to the dance, as you can imagine.”
