Crest student places in state STEM competition

Strawberry Crest ninth grader Omar Gonzalez was recognized today for having one of the top STEM fair projects in Florida.

Gonzalez, an IB student, created an environmental engineering project titled, "Energy through Solar Thermal Updraft," and ended up placing sixth in the state. Janet Dougherty, Executive Director of the Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission, presented Gonzalez with a certificate and a gift basket from the Florida Aquarium – which hooked Gonzalez up with four annual passes.
