The business was the only dental company to receive the award.
On Friday, Feb. 19, Dental Associates of Florida was honored with the prestigious University of Florida's Gator 100 award.
The award, which was presented Friday at a ceremony and luncheon at the university's J. Wayne Reitz Union Grand Ballroom, is sponsored by the University of Florida, the Warrington College of Business and the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center. The award was created to honor the 100 fastest-growing businesses owned or led by University of Florida alumni.
To generate the ranking of each business, the companies' compounded annual growth rates over the last three years were calculated by Ernst & Young.
Dental Associates of Florida, which is headquartered in Plant City, was ranked 36th. The company has a compounded annual growth rate of 47.7%. Dental Associates of Florida, which was chosen for the Inaugural 2015 Gator 100 last year, was the only dental company to be awarded this year. The company's owners attended the event with their families, along with University of Florida College of Dentistry Dean, Dr. Isabel Garcia.
The company was co-founded by University of Florida alumni John Carter, William "Trey" Mueller III and Stephen J. "Trey" Walding III. All three men received their DMD degrees from the University of Florida, and Mueller and Walding additionally received their undergraduate degrees from the university. Mueller also is a graduate of Plant City High School.
Dental Associates of Florida has 11 offices total, in Lakeland, Bartow, Winter Haven, Brandon, Sun City, Tampa, Brooksville and headquarters in Plant City.
