Matt Carter may no longer be Durant softball's head coach, but the team is making sure he is always remembered at the school.
The team is hosting a ceremony for Carter, who retired after the 2015-16 season, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, half an hour before its scheduled game against East Bay. Head coach Jessica Howton and the team will officially dedicate the clubhouse to Carter, and will also present a plaque made for him.
Carter compiled a 165-83 record from 2006 to 2016, winning the 2012 8A state title and making three Final Four appearances. His teams also won five district titles in that span.
