The Florida Strawberry Festival announced the winners of the annual FFA exhibit competition Saturday, Feb. 28.
In this year’s contest, Plant City FFA won first place, Turkey Creek FFA won second place, Tomlin FFA won third place and Marshall FFA won fourth place. Brandon FFA, Durant FFA and Strawberry Crest FFA all won awards of distinction.
Each year, seven FFA chapters from the local area design and construct a booth that is agriculturally educational and related to the Festival’s current theme. The theme for the 2015 Festival is “Come Join The Party!” to commemorate the event’s 80th birthday.
“We are an event that is designed around agricultural and families,” General Manager Paul Davis said. “We want our visitors to understand not just where strawberries come from and how they’re grown, but how all of our agricultural commodities are grown.”
Each of the chapters’ exhibits can be seen in the Parke Exhibit Building all 11 days of the festival.
“Our FFA members have put so much work into putting these booths together,” Davis said. “We are tremendously proud of them and invite everyone to come see the products of their efforts.”
