Festival to donate to city’s economic development council

The Florida Strawberry Festival has pledged to donate $5,000 every year for three years to Plant City’s economic development council following its development. The pledge was made at the Festival’s board meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Currently, the economic development council is in the process of becoming a legitimate corporation. As soon as the process is complete, the council will receive the Festival’s first donation.

“We’d like to be part of the building process,” Paul Davis, Florida Strawberry Festival general manager, said. “The city and this group are going to be pushing midtown expansion.”

Davis also noted the development plans for the I-4 Tech Corridor and County Line Road. He says that the board will support the council any way they can.
