The Florida Strawberry Festival has purchased two homes near the Festival grounds that will be turned into parking lots.
Paul Davis, general manager for the Festival, says that the organization is still waiting for permits for 1904 W. Palmetto Ave. and 1910 W. Palmetto Ave., which were purchased a few months ago. The homes are located adjacent to the Festival grounds, and were purchased for a combined price of about $120,000. Attendees who park at W. Palmetto Avenue would only have to walk about three minutes to get to the Festival.
Since the purchase, Davis says, other Plant City residents have offered to sell their homes for parking as well. Currently, the Festival is not looking to purchase any other properties for parking or other uses.
