Four injured, one killed in Pasco County crash

A Plant City man, a Dover man and two Zephyrhills residents were injured, and a Zephyrhills teen was killed, in a three-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday in Pasco County.

At 6:37 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, William Kent Jr., 32, of Dover, was driving his pickup truck north on U.S. 301 near Shamrock Place in Pasco County. He slowed down to turn left, and was then struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by Julian Tanner, 67, of Plant City.

The impact caused Tanner to drive into the southbound lane, where his vehicle collided with a southbound SUV driven by Zuleika Gonzalez-Tiernan, 39, of Zephyrhills.

Kelmy Tanon, 16, of Zephyrhills, was seated behind Gonzalez-Tiernan. Isaiah Gonzalez, 9, of Zephyrhills, was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle.

Tanon was not wearing a seatbelt and died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Tanner, Gonzalez-Tiernan and Gonzalez were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Kent was taken to Florida Hospital Zephyrhills with minor injuries.

U.S. 301 was closed to traffic in the area of the crash until about 10:45 a.m., when power lines that had been damaged during the crash were cleared.
