Since last year's Plant City History Trivia Challenge went well, the Friends of the Bruton Memorial Library announced that they're bringing it back.
The 2016 trivia challenge, sponsored by Hopewell Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, tests residents' knowledge of the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Plant City Entertainment facility, 101 N. Thomas St. It will pit 16 prominent Plant Citians against one another, with the History Trivia Challenge Cup on the line.
Teams of four will tackle 20 questions about the history of the area, over five rounds. In the event of a tie, two sets of questions will determine the winner. Information for the questions will be gathered from various Plant City-focused books and news publications, including the Plant City Times & Observer.
Last year's winning team consisted of Michael Cameron, Paul Hetrick, Mike Sparkman and Mac Smith.
