GETTING RID OF HURRICANE DEBRIS

Debris collection began on Tuesday, October 15.  There is so much debris that the removal will take a few weeks.  Normal yard waste pickup times will be suspended while the cleanup continues, but yard waste can be left curbside with hurricane debris. Hurricane debris collection will route through neighborhoods more than one time.

To make sure your debris is picked up efficiently, separate debris according to the FEMA guidelines at https://www.plantcitygov.com/solid-waste, and follow the below:

Do not park vehicles on roads in neighborhoods. This obstructs access to waste.

Separate tree debris from trash, furniture, appliances, fencing, etc. Tree debris bags and cans should be separate from branches.

Do not stack anything under wires or less than 3 feet from poles, mailboxes, cable boxes, etc.

Do not to hire someone to haul your debris unless they cut down an entire tree. These haulers will increase delays at the disposal facility.

Customers don’t need to call next week to report debris in front of their home or business. The city is monitoring the amount of debris on curbs.
