Hillsborough and 41 other Florida counties are in a state of emergency, Governor Rick Scott declared Wednesday, Aug. 31.
Tropical Storm Hermine is expected to make landfall Thursday. Hillsborough County is not expected to take a direct hit, as the storm appears to be heading for the Big Bend area, but flooding, thunderstorms and strong winds could still pose problems.
The storm is expected to leave Florida by Friday afternoon.
The Plant City Times & Observer is asking readers to send in their weather pictures as the storm passes through the area. Submitted photos may be featured in print and online. Photos may be emailed to Managing Editor Amber Jurgensen at ajurgensen@plantcityobserver.com.
