They are here to help plant city Residents now.
Now that the election is over, and 2025 has begun, you don’t have to wait for new legislators to get things in place and get moving—your local government representatives were reelected and are ready to serve.
State Senator Danny Burgess
Burgess represents District 23, and has a satellite office in Plant City. Most constituent issues can be handled by phone or email. The office can address a wide variety of constituent concerns, including, but not limited to, legislative inquiries, assistance with state agencies, veterans’ services, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, and general issues affecting the lives of residents. When the office receives a constituent inquiry they review the issue, take the appropriate action to provide guidance or direct assistance, and collaborate with state agencies and departments to resolve problems.

U.S. Representative Laurel Lee
Lee represents District 15. Her staff holds mobile office hours in Plant City. Due to the number of citizens making use of the opportunity, the service has expanded. The new times are the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Plant City Community Resource Center at 307 North Michigan Avenue. Below are services for which the congresswoman’s staff can assist constituents.
Passports
The team can work with the Department of State to expedite, renew, or obtain a U.S. passport. They can also assist in reporting a lost or stolen passport.
Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security Administration
If Plant Citians are facing issues with Centers for Medicare or Medicaid (CMS) Services, or are having trouble accessing claims and benefits, the congresswoman’s office can open a case with CMS. The office can help citizens apply for Social Security benefits, check the status of a claim or appeal, obtain a benefit verification letter, or request a replacement Social Security card.
Disaster Relief
In the event of a natural disaster, the office can connect citizens with the Department of Homeland Security (which oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA]) for disaster relief and recovery efforts.
Military Records and Veterans Affairs
Staff can help with obtaining military or civilian records from the Department of Defense, and can submit an inquiry on the behalf of a veteran or former employee. They can also submit inquiries for Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits—including reimbursements and travel pay—and can assist in scheduling appointments with VA entities.
Tax Claims and Assistance
If a resident needs assistance with tax returns, business taxes, tax credits and deductibles, or identity theft and fraud claims, Congresswoman Lee’s team can file an inquiry on someone’s behalf with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Legal Immigration and Visa Assistance
If an immigration case has been delayed, no response has been received, or a constituent has questions regarding Visa processing, Visa applications, and immigration services, the staff can file an inquiry with either U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or the National Visa Center on the person’s behalf.
Postal Services
If a resident is having problems with mail delivery to a home or business, tracking a package, or any other mail issues, the office can inquire with the United States Postal Services (USPS) on a resident’s behalf.
Housing Assistance
If a resident is facing an immediate housing problem, the office staff can assist by connecting the person to the local Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) office for immediate shelter resources.
“Without the help from your office, I would not have the documentation, but there is plenty I am able to share so that we can prevent other veterans from experiencing the same obstacles I have,” Edward, who lives in Plant City, said about how Lee’s office assisted him.
