Grocer Felton Williams remembered for his contributions

Felton Williams, the founder and owner of Plant City’s famous Felton’s Meat and Produce, died Dec. 27, 2012. He was 87.

Mr. Williams was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer and deacon; the Lion’s Club; the Board of Directors of South Florida Baptist Hospital; and many other trade and service organizations.

He was named Plant City Citizen of the Year in 2006.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille Williams; children, Leland Williams, Karen Davis (Elliot) and Jeff Williams; siblings, Leo Williams, Dorothy Andreu and Jeraldine “Dinky” Cribbs (James); grandchildren, Kayla and Cameron; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life was held Dec. 30 at Eastside Baptist Church. Private interment was at Memorial Park, Plant City.

He always will be remembered for his charitable nature, so in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church Family Life Center and/or the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, 301 N. Alexander St., Plant City, FL 33563.
