On Tuesday, September 17, Hillsborough County Public Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony for the district’s newest career center in Plant City. The new educational facility will be located at 1690 E Park Road and will open in the Fall of 2025.
The newest career center will offer a variety of programs for students to get a feel of potential career pathways they could take. The programs offered include industrial electricity, welding technology, building construction, HVAC, and forklift certification. So, students can jump into well-paying jobs faster, these programs will only take about a year to complete. “Our new career center is unique, combining the best aspects of adult learning centers and vocational high schools. In January of 2026, high school students will have the opportunity to dual-enroll, learning alongside adults, and gaining real-world skills that will prepare them for the workforce,” said Superintendent Van Ayres. “This approach is a first for our district, and it reflects our commitment to providing innovative educational pathways.”
The new career center will serve as a demonstration of how education can relate to many career paths. The center will offer a diverse array of programs that will aid in interesting people within the community. This investment is a great way to help Hillsborough County Public School students explore different careers they may be interested in.
