The group is accepting applicants for its "a Brush with Kindness" program.
Habitat for Humanity really wants to fix up some homes.
The group is getting ready for its "a Brush with Kindness" program, which provides applicants with painting, landscaping, clean-up and repair services. The program will come to Plant City Thursday, April 21, as long as the group can find 10 qualified homeowners. A second program will come through the area Thursday, May 12, provided that there are also enough applicants.
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements in order to be considered for the program on either day:
- Homeowner must live in said home, and must have lived there at least 12 months
- Homeowner must not be in any state of foreclosure, and must be current on property taxes
- Homeowner must have projects that the program has resources to complete
- Able-bodied homeowners must work alongside Habitat for Humanity volunteers, and may not leave during their project
- Homeowner must not sell the home for at least three years after the project is completed, except in special cases
- Homeowner must be able to provide proof of home insurance, if possible
- Homeowner must meet income level based on household size
