Marsha Passmore offers tips for making a DIY wreath.
Former City Commissioner Marsha Passmore claims she’s no Martha Stewart, but her crafting abilities say otherwise. The Plant City Entertainment Inc. president created the DIY wreath for this year’s Holiday Gift Guide. Made out of artificial poinsettias, leaves, ornaments and ribbons, this wreath is easy to make and sure to impress any house guest.
MAKE IT
1. Buy a wreath from a local craft or home goods store. Be sure to find one that will fit on your front door and has a number of firm branches for ornaments, bows and other add-ons.
2. Select a wreath color scheme. For the holidays, gold, silver and red are sure to delight.
3. Buy ornaments and decorations for the wreath. Carry the wreath with you to the store to make sure you aren’t buying too many or too few decorations. Get a variety of decorations, including ribbons, ornaments, florals and bows.
4. Put the wreath on a flat surface to fluff up the branches.
5. Place the ornaments and other decorations on the wreath, and adjust until satisfied.
6. Carefully tie in or hang the ornaments on the wreath while the wreath is on a flat surface.
7. To secure items, tie colorful ribbon around looser or heavier items, such as bigger ornaments.
8. Hang on the door for guests to enjoy.
